HEADQUARTER’S BUILDING SECURED!!!

We are thrilled to announce that Veteran & Enlisted Targeted Solutions Inc. has officially signed the lease for our headquarters! We are in the process of moving in and organizing, and we’re excited to open our doors to veterans on February 3rd. Our first program, First Step Forward, is a boots-on-the-ground outreach initiative dedicated to assisting homeless veterans who have fallen through the cracks of our country’s system. These veterans are homeless, helpless, and in dire need of support. Our mission is to lift them back onto the path toward stability, dignity, and reintegration into society. This milestone would not have been possible without the incredible support from our donors, volunteers, and everyone who has encouraged us on this journey. Your contributions are helping us make a meaningful impact in the lives of veterans in need. We invite you to stop by our headquarters at 821 S. Second St., Louisville, KY, 40203, to meet us and learn more about our mission. If you’d like to join us in making a difference, we’re always looking for volunteers to help with our programs and outreach. Feel free to email me at jamieberry@vets-incorporated.org or visit us in person. Together, we can continue this journey of good and change lives. Stay tuned for updates on our hours and future plans!

First Step Forward

First Step Forward: Goal and Mission Statement

Goal:

To provide personalized, boots-on-the-ground outreach to homeless veterans, guiding them step by step on their journey back to stability, independence, and reintegration into society.

Mission:

First Step Forward is committed to restoring hope and dignity to homeless veterans through trust-building relationships and comprehensive support. We assist veterans in accessing local shelter programs, obtaining essential identification and service records (e.g., DD214), and enrolling in VA Healthcare to address medical and mental health needs. Additionally, we help veterans apply for VA disability benefits or non-service-connected pensions, they may be eligible for ensuring they receive the support and recognition they have earned. By partnering with shelters and local organizations, we help veterans find employment and establish a clear path to becoming self-sufficient and productive members of society. Our mission doesn’t end with the first step—we walk alongside each veteran throughout their journey, providing guidance, encouragement, and a steadfast reminder that someone still cares about their well-being and success. Together, we aim to ensure no veteran is left behind in their pursuit of a better future. One Veteran at a time.

VETS Inc. Bicycle Drive for Homeless Veterans

After multiple conversations with homeless veterans in local shelters, one recurring challenge stood out—transportation. Many shelters have programs designed to help veterans rebuild their lives, but to remain in these programs, they must meet specific goals, including securing employment. For those who do find jobs, the lack of reliable transportation becomes a major barrier to success.

That’s why VETS Inc. is launching a Bicycle Drive to provide homeless veterans with a simple yet powerful tool: a bike. Having access to a bicycle can be a game-changer, making it easier for veterans to get to work, attend appointments, and regain their independence.

To kick off the initiative, I am personally donating the first two bikes—ones that have been sitting unused in my garage for years. I know I’m not alone. Many of you likely have an adult bicycle collecting dust, and now is the perfect opportunity to put it to good use.

How You Can Help:

1. Donate Your Unused Adult Bicycle – We will distribute donated bikes to local shelters, where veterans can sign them out as needed.

2. Purchase a Bike Lock – We’ve created an Amazon Wish List where you can purchase locks that will be shipped directly to our headquarters at:

821 S. 2nd St.

Louisville, Ky. 40203

3. Drop-Off or Pick-Up – We are working on multiple drop-off locations, and if you’re in the area, we can even arrange to pick up donations directly from your home. Just send us an email!

Every donation makes a difference in a veteran’s journey toward self-sufficiency and stability. Thank you for standing with us and helping our homeless veterans take their next step toward independence.

For drop-off locations, pick-up requests, or more information, please contact me at jamieberry@vets-incorporated.org or send me a message on FB messenger.

Let’s get rolling and change lives—one bike at a time!
